9ninepoker.com --What A Sham

I gave 9ninepoker.com a try this week. It is my opinion that that site is a fraud. You be the judge.

I sign up. In about the first 10 minutes I am playing on the site, I am dealt pocket aces in a .50-1.00 blind no limit hold'em game. I limp in in early position.

Someone raises it to $5.00.
I reraise to $9.00 and he calls.
Flop is 10-6-8. two clubs and a heart.
I bet out about $20.00
The guy calls.
turn card is an 9s
The guy only has about $40.00 in front of him so I put him all-in
He calls.
The hands are flipped. He has As-Qs.
River card is a J, giving the guy a straight.

Now, who the hell would call that flop for 1/3 of their stack with A-Q?

looking for what? a double gutshot straight?

Who would call the turn for the rest of their stack with a gut-shot straight draw?

The only persons who would chase that would be either 1) someone who is criminally stupid and made of money or 2) someone who knows what is coming...i.e. a shill.

I think they should change their name to nein nein poker. As in no way in hell should you give them your money.

Anyone else had a similar experience with 9ninepoker.com?

Vegas Trip

So I made the pilgrimage to Vegas recently. Now there's a place that has seen alot of change. I never thought he day would come where you couldn't find a Prime Rib buffet for 5.95 on the strip. It's here. 90% of the strip is owned by three companies. Harrahs has the whole block across from Cesars and Cesars.

Poker tournaments are now a dime a dozen out there. 99% of them are No Limit Hold'em.

Cesar's has a nice daily tournament. $80.00 buy-in with one $50.00 add-on. The rounds are 40 min each. It's a long one, but it gives you a chance to relax and play w/o the blinds chomping away at you constantly.

The weekend action is good. Cash games are full of regulars during the weekdays. Some evenings the Imperial Palace manages to put together a $100.00 max/min buy-in no limit hold'em game. It's a great fishing pond.
